The Glastonbury Pirates were founded in 2007 by Mike Clinton as part of the Glastonbury Amateur Baseball program. Glastonbury had losing seasons in its first 3 years with a 1-4 playoff record in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, despite being the 6th seed in the playoffs, Glastonbury reached the Championship Series by upsetting the Wethersfield Royals once and Bristol Knights twice, before losing to the #1 seed Willimantic Ridges in the final.

Since 2010, Glastonbury has added more experience and depth to the roster.  In 2011, Glastonbury finished with a 16-5 record and the overall #1 seed, mostly because of great pitching and defense.  However, in the playoffs they had a combined record of 2-4 for 2010 and 2011.  In 2013, The Pirates finally went the distance and won their first league championship riding the fantastic season of pitcher Zach Cloft.

For the 2017 Season, the Glastonbury Pirates merged with the Portland Panthers, making one strong team from the two. Coach Todd Kessel will be aboard as manager along with Zach Cloft as the General Manager, while Bill Eller will be a coach. The team will retain the Glastonbury Pirates name and still play in Glastonbury at the High School and Riverfront Park.
