THE INDIANS HISTORY:
The Indians started back in 1996 as the Acumen Astros, played there home games in Vernon and were managed by league President Mike Krawczyk. After Mike Krawczyk retired and stepped down as league Prez in 2001, he turned the team over to Chris Barsa who changed the team name to Irish Insurance Indians, then eventually the Newington Indians (also mixed in there, they were the ProLab Indians, New Britain Indians, Plaza Azteca Indians, Rivals Indians, & Tunxis Grill Indians). At one point John Brucato became co-manager and league Treasurer for a number of years before moving away. Indians won the MTL Championship in 2006. Home games were played at Legends Field and Newington High School. In 2015 the Brickhouse Bar & Grill in came aboard as the team’s sponsor. The Indians in 2017 will continue to play a number of games, including night games, at Sage Park in Berlin at Zipadelli Field and at East Catholic in Manchester.
